Influence of the pro-Israel lobby!

Last March, a serious study has been published to become, in my opinion, another important historical documentation for the ongoing Zionism's crimes. It's an alarm bell to the American People before Arabs!

"The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" is the title of this study, written by John Mearsheimer, political science professor at the University of Chicago, and Stephen Walt, academic dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

"This situation has no equal in American political history" says the study, and "Why has the United States been willing to set aside its own security and that of many of its allies in order to advance the interests of another state?" ask authors! According to the study, the simple answer was the influence of the pro-Israel lobby. Since World War II, the United States has channeled $140 billion in support to Israel! It will also describe the various activities that pro-Israel groups have undertaken in order to shift U.S. foreign policy in a pro-Israel direction.

The study was immediately attacked by a number of pro-Israel organizations and groups, and the Israel lobby launched its usual "anti-Semitic defamation" campaign against both professors. "We fully recognized that the lobby would retaliate against us", Prof. Mearsheimer said. "It was clear to us that many people understood the problem that we describe in the piece but were afraid to talk about it... because the lobby would retaliate" say authors.

Saudi Prince al-Walleed makes a $20 million donation to Harvard University and then shortly after Professors Walt and Mearsheimer's study titled "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" concluded that the Israel Lobby runs US foreign policy. To what extent do you think this anti-Israel document has been influenced by the Saudi Princes donation?

Wahhabi influence has infiltrated the US academic world, and Middle East Studies was taken over by pro-Wahhabi money, and grants. This resulted in increased levels of political anti-Semitism and anti-democracy trends. The genocide in Sudan, the persecution of such minorities as the Kurds, Copts, Assyro-Chaldians, Berbers, the Syrian occupation of Lebanon, the human rights abuses, and Middle East dictatorships were silenced as areas of study. Instead, Wahhabi influence concentrated solely on the Arab-Israeli conflict, taking one side in it. Saudi Arabia donated more than $4 billion to Wahhabism last year to spread their message. More than the USSR ever spent on the KGB in a single year.

What a well formed and logic rebuttal mohammed. I don’t suppose you know that Walt has been forced to leave his cush job at Harvard for the putting out that piece of junk he spent no time researching. And if you have read it you would also know it is mainly a bunch of old rehashed racist bile that could be found in such great works as the protocols. Not to mention it was completely biased. That would be a no no in a paper written by an academic which is supposed to look at both sides of an argument. It’s not a post on web blog or an op-ed in a newspaper. It’s supposed to be something put out by a prestigious place of higher learning.

So it’s on the net what a revelation you made you there. So are sites that only accept members that actually claim to be aliens from other planets. And sites that feature Huge Jugs. What’s your point or weren’t you making one.

Mohammad-- you have an interesting and creative blog here :)

The study you discussed is very important and not surprisingly, was attacked with the usual "anti-Semitic" claim. When something is attacked this harshly, in my view, it just gives it more legitimacy.

Anon--
Prince al-Waleed is one of the richest people on Earth. His donations are not limited to promoting Islamic/Middle Eastern studies such as in Georgetown or Harvard Universities. He has donated to various charities and causes, including $10 million towards relief efforts after 9/11 which was rudely rejected by the pompous Giuliani.
He donated $500K to the George H. W. Bush scholarship foundation. He donated $20 million to the Louvre Museum to fund an Islamic art wing. These are just a few examples. As you can see, his donations are diverse, and many are geared towards bridging the gap between East & West. I'm not personally defending him for any reason other than the fact that I think it's admirable that the 5th richest man on Earth makes an effort to give back to various parts of the world for educational and humanitarian causes.

The $20 million donations to Harvard and Georgetown have come under heavy fire by mostly Zionist and Islamophobic groups because they are angered that such a large amount of money is dedicated to a greater understanding between the West and the Muslim world. Jewish and Christian Zionist groups donate unbelievable amounts of money to universities across the United States everyday without anyone even protesting with a word! Why is that such a commendable gesture is attacked simply because it comes from a Muslim man?! Give me a break!

And one more point, Walt wasn't forced to leave his job at Harvard. He had planned to take a leave before the article was published, and it was documented before that as well. See the recent Robert Fisk article "United States of Israel?" in the Independent (and on my blog) for further details.

Oft quoted and respected historian for the Arab side:

AND NOW FOR SOME FACTS
Benny Morris
The New Republic, May 8, 2006

John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt's "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" is a nasty piece of work. [W]hat these distinguished professors have produced is otherwise depressing to anyone who values intellectual integrity. [They] build their case mainly by means of omission: they tell certain facts while omitting others, sometimes more apt and crucial. And occasionally they distort facts and figures… Their work is riddled with shoddiness and defiled by mendacity. Were "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" an actual person, I would have to say that he did not have a single honest bone in his body…

Um khalil lies! What a creative name and blog, lol :-) if you really want to be against um khalil at least get some facts and believable subjects like her… I understand that it's very difficult for you to get similar info like murders of Israelis and Zionists, but come on don't be dull! Till when you guys will stay losers in your ridiculous claims :-)

ibrahamav-- Benny Morris tried to deny the historical fact that Palestinians were forcibly removed from their homes and lands in 1948. He's a "historian", not a US foreign policy analyst. He should stick to writing what he thinks is Israeli "history" rather than try to be involved in anything & everything written about Israel.

The Walt/Mearshiemer piece is about politics and influence of a small group of Zionists (Jewish & Christian) on US foreign policy, not about the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. You should take a look at it before quoting other sources.

Before you guys get all pleased with yourselves, I hope you realize that whatever criticism (unfounded as it may be) W&M levelled against supporters of Israel and their lobbying efforts, can just as easily be turned around and used against any similar group lobbying efforts in the US - including Arab/Islamic efforts.

Moi stated that "Jewish and Christian Zionist groups donate unbelievable amounts of money to universities across the United States everyday without anyone even protesting with a word!" Now I can't speak about the Christians but Jews do indeed make many donations to Universities in the US - except the difference is that the vast majority of thse donations are not for Jewish studies Departments and are not tied to any particular ideological agenda.

How's that you say? Why one need only look to Kennedy School of Government Dean Stephen Walt who occupies the Robert and Renee Belfer Chair of International Affairs at Harvard. Robert Belfer (Harvard Law, Class of '57) endowed this chair with a gift of $7.5 million to the Kennedy School in 1997. Mr. Belfer and his family have also been leading philanthropists and supporters of Jewish causes for decades. Mr. Belfer has been Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University as well as a board member of both the American Jewish Committee and the Weizmann Institute. Just last month Mr. Belfer received an honorary doctorate from the Israeli institute for "his outstanding professional accomplishments...his lifelong commitment to the values of Jewish philanthropy...and his strong identification with the aspirations of the Weizmann Institute in the service of Israel..." Seems Dr. Walt is the financial beneficiary of an influential member of "the Israel lobby." By his own logic then, Walt himself is thus a member of the nefarious Lobby.

Consider that Mohammad. This could all be a giant Zionist ruse!! Oh and happy birthday.
