من فلسطين كتبها إبراهيم طوقان لتصبح نشيد بلده، ومن لبنان لحنها محمد فليفل ( أحد الأخوين فليفل مكتشفي المطربة فيروز)، ومؤخرًا أصبحت بديل النشيد الوطني العراقي، واليوم نغنيها مره أخرى، ولكن... لا أدري إن كان تاريخ صلاحية "مَــوطِــنــي" قد إنتهى في زمن طغى فيه الظلم والفساد على أمتنا، وتفرقت فيه القلوب والمذاهب، ورفعت شعارات النفاق والجهل، ونكسّت رايات العدل والأخلاق الكريمه... منذ أكثر من 70 عام تسائل طوقان: مَــوطِــنــي، هـــــلْ أراكْ فـي عُـــلاكْ .. تبـلُـغُ السِّـمَـاكْ؟ و السِّـمَـاك بتشديد السين مع الكسر هو " المنزلة العالية "!! هل بات هذا السؤال هزلياً في يومنا هذا أم ماذا؟ على أية حال فلنغني مَــوطِــنــي على أمل أن نقتل، ولو القليل، من حسرة القلوب، ونعيد بصيص الأمل للعيون

رحيل الفنان إسماعيل شموط 1930–2006

وصلني الآن نبأ وفاة الفنان التشكيلي الفلسطيني ،العزيز إلى قلبي جداً، إسماعيل شموط، الحزن يغمرني والكلمات تتطاير مني... كان فنانا رائعا، الله يرحمه، ولقد سعدت بلقائه 3 مرات في حياتي، و في كل مرة كان يحمل معه روحا جديدة و قلبا دافئا مليء بالتفائل لمستقبل شعب غابت عنه شمس العدل وسطعت في أعماله الفنية... مازلت أسمع في أذني ضحكته التي تخفي الأحزان وكلامه الرزين

في مكالمة أجريتها مع أحد المقربين له، علمت أنه توفى في ألمانيا منذ يومين وهو يتعالج من مشاكله الصحية التي لازمت قلبه في المرحلة الأخيره، والتي لم تمنعه من التحضيرات لمعرضه الجديد والذي كان من المفترض إقامته في الوقت القريب... لكن ما الفائده... رحل الفنان، ورحلت معه همومه التي كانت كحمل الجبال... تاركا ورائه نقشا مرسوما في القلوب والعقول، وفناً راقياً يستغيث لشعب أصبح و بات ومات مقهورا... وكالعاده، فليسجل الزمان رحيلاً آخراً لفلسطينيا وفناناً يموت على أراضي الغربة والشتات... بعيداً عن أرضه وحقه... رحم الله كل أبناء الشعب الفلسطيني ومعهم الفنان إسماعيل شموط

Umkhalil's new post, Dr. Salman Abu Sitta's achievements, and Palestine maps!

I'm amazed by Umkhalil's new post 'When Will You Ever Learn,' Rabbi Lerner? it's actually a Response to Rabbi Lerner's "When will they ever learn…that violence is not the path to security?"

You'll notice that Umkhalil has mentioned Dr. Salman Abu Sitta who has debated Rabbi before. Abu Sitta is a great Palestinian researcher, the general coordinator of the Right of Return Congress and founder of the Palestine Land Society, he has worked tirelessly for the Palestinian Right of Return for several decades, and has over 50 publications to his credit. " Al-Nakba was the largest planned ethnic cleansing in modern history" he says. Abu-Sitta is a refugee himself: he was nine years old when he was forced, along with the rest of his family, to flee their home in Beir al-Saba (Beersheba) in 1948. He has documented every detail surrounding the 1948 exodus and historic Palestine. His research has shown that there is ample space in present-day Israel to accommodate all Palestinian refugees. source

I've always loved Abu Sitta's unique achievements; they're such a perfect references, especially the smart Palestine maps in Arabic and English that show the towns and villages depopulated by the Zionist invasion of 1948. Also his presentations, and his Arabic articles/researches that unmasked some unbelievable crimes by Zionists.

Speaking of maps, "Palestine remembered" website has a great collection of Palestine maps, where you can find the extremely rare map of Palestine before alnakbeh, but unfortunately it was signed by the terrorist Moshe Dayan.
